Yasir received his Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and Biology (with distinction) from the University of Toronto, Canada (2016). He then entered a direct-entry PhD program at the University of Toronto with Prof. Patrick T. Gunning and is currently in his final year. As a medicinal chemist, his research lies at the interface of synthetic, biological and computational chemistries. His studies focus on developing lead compounds with therapeutic utility against several oncology targets (e.g. kinases, histone deacetylases). Yasir is the recipient of an Ontario Graduate Scholarship (2018) and recently a national grant for research in Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
